We visited Manly Beach on April 6th. We drove up from Canberra, stopping in the beautiful little town Berrima for lunch. We got lost going through Sydney of the bridge, going across it twice. Sigh. But we ended up at a backpackers hostel in Manly only a few steps from the long, sandy beach.
We played in the sand, tried out the waves (Lucy was knocked right off her feet by the second wave), and Hannah decided it was not for her. We had to keep moving up the shore as the waves got closer. And she wanted to sit on the towels because the sand was too sandy. Sigh. City child. :)
We took about 40 pounds of sand back to our room in our swimsuits. In fact, I made the kids stand over the garbage can while they got changed because the sand was cascading out like it was a magic trick. How many days does it take to get sand out of a kids hair? But we were nicely exfoliated!
We had dinner at a nice restaurant nearby. Then it was off the next day to pick up Ken and Suzanne (James' parents) from Sydney airport.
